Cybersecurity standards for the automotive industry
It is not that easy to keep track of the current timelines for all relevant cybersecurity standards and regulations in the automotive industry. In this video course „Overview Standards Timeline“ you will get to know the current timelines of all relevant standards and learn when which publication took place or is planned.
A Summary of Relevant Cybersecurity Standards for the Automotive Industry with a Brief Explanation of their Development History and (planned) Release dates
This video course „Overview Standards Timeline“ will walk you through the different standards and regulations affecting cybersecurity in the automotive industry and point out exactly when they have been or will be released.
This is quite important as most of these standards and regulations are relatively new, meaning many will come into play very soon and experts will need to keep up to better estimate the impact that these standards will have on the industry, projects, engineering processes and other dependencies.
Moreover, after understanding the relevancy of the standards, this video will show the registration, drafting, and release dates for these standards and regulations. Knowing when compliance to standards and regulations might be mandatory is crucial for project management and to prepare certain processes and measures beforehand in order to have the most secure and reliable operation as well as avoiding future risks and additional costs.
This video course covers both, standards and regulations. For regulations (such as UN R155 and UN R156), which are mandatory to follow because they are legally binding, the eye on the timeline is indispensable. But also in terms of standards, first and foremost ISO/SAE 21434 as the best known, you will learn in this video course how things currently stand around ISO 24089 and ISO PAS 5112, for example.
Please note that standards such as ASPICE, IEC 62443, and TISAX have already been released some time ago, so we won’t touch on them in this video.

Explainer for relevant standards and regulations
There is a growing number of standards and regulations that address the automotive industry in general and cybersecurity in particular. To get an overview here, it is also helpful to look at the respective history and development. In this video course, you will learn about the timelines.
Timeline for relevant standards and regulations
This video course is of particular importance: although some of the new standards have not even been officially published yet, others are already having an impact on the automotive industry. The timeline of publication dates and schedules should come clearly into focus for cybersecurity managers: with this video course.
Cybersecurity Standards for Automotive – Video course content
In the introduction of this video course you will learn how the most important cybersecurity standards for the automotive industry with their respective timelines already have an impact on your daily work.
II. The most crucial standards and regulations
In this part of the course, we are talking about the most crucial standards and regulations, mainly the UN Regulation 155 and the UN Regulation No 156 which you might already be familiar with, and of course the ISO/SAE 21434 along with other standards that directly or indirectly impact automotive cybersecurity.
III. UN Regulation No 155 & UN Regulation No 156 Timeline
In this part of the course, we will look at the exact timelines for UN Regulation No 155 as well as UN Regulation No 156. Here you will also learn more about the history of the development of both regulations.
In this part of the course, we take a look at ISO/SAE 21434, when it was launched, and when the DIS and FDIS versions were released. (Please note here the update on the official publication of ISO/SAE 21434 in August 2021).
V. ISO PAS 5112 & ISO 24089 Timeline
In this part of the course, we look at ISO PAS 5112, which will bring the guidelines for auditing ISO/SAE 21434. We then look at the current timeline of ISO 24089. (Again, please note the updates of the timeline).
VI. Sum Up
In this video we will clarify what you have learned about each of the relevant standards and regulations, and summarize when is each standard released or will be released.
